Johnny Mullagh was a member of the Jardwadjali peoples, born near Harrow, on Mullagh Station in western Victoria in 1841. He was named Unaarrimin at birth, but later took on the name, Johnny Mullagh, after the Station where he was born. [1]
Famed as the principal batsman on the team of Aboriginal Cricketers who toured England in 1868, Mullagh later played for the Melbourne Cricket Club, although his main commitment was to the Harrow Cricket Club, which he supported all his life. [1][2]
In 2021, Johnny Mullagh was inducted into the Australian Cricket Hall of Fame. [5] He was also an inaugural inductee to the Victorian Indigenous Honour Roll in 2012. [3].
