Paternal relationship is affirmed through Y-chromosome DNA testing at Family Tree DNA. David James, FTDNA kit #24887, and his sixth cousin, once removed, Living James, FTDNA kit #80923, match at a Genetic Distance of 4 on 67 markers, thereby confirming their direct paternal lines back to their MRCA John James. FTDNA indicates that the probability the two share a common ancestor within the last 6 generations is 49.21% and within the last 10 generations is 83.71%.
Paternal relationship is confirmed through Y-chromosome DNA testing at Family Tree DNA. David James, FTDNA kit #24887, and his 5th cousin, three times removed, a son of Gerald James, FTDNA kit #N41089, match at a Genetic Distance of 5 on 111 markers, thereby confirming their direct paternal lines back to their MRCA, John James. FTDNA indicates that the probability the two share a common ancestor within the last 8 generations is 76.14% and within the last 12 generations is 95.62%.
A DNA relationship is confirmed by a GEDmatch test match between David Mitchell James, GEDmatch Kit T151295, and his fourth cousin, Brian Scott James, GEDmatch Kit NB3590316. Their MRCAs are their third great-grandparents, Benjamin James and Sarah Glidden. Estimated number of generations to MRCA = 4.8, based on sharing 17.7 cM across 1 matching segments.
