Biography

My initial interest in Genealogy was a discovery I made 2 days prior to attempting to join this forum. The discovery was made thanks to this site and as it is in many cases a bit of knowledge leads to more questions. I believe this forum to be a valuable instrument for unearthing the past and indeed finding more questions that needs be answered.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships by comparing test results with Brian or other carriers of his ancestors' Y-chromosome or mitochondrial DNA. Y-chromosome DNA test-takers in his direct paternal line on WikiTree:
  • Brian James: Family Tree DNA Y-DNA Test 700 markers, haplogroup R-BY59309
Mitochondrial DNA test-takers in the direct maternal line: It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Brian:

Hi Brian,

Thanks self-certifying for the Pre-1700 badge! Collaboration with Pre-1700 Project members is essential for those wishing to edit Pre-1700 profiles. Collaboration is essential because those ancestors are usually shared by many descendants.

It looks like the United States Project would be a good fit based on your branch of WikiTree. Review the project page to learn about resources and guidelines as well as how to collaborate with the project members.

Do you have any questions? Let me know. I'm happy to help! :-)

Thank you for volunteering. You are now a full member of WikiTree.

Start with the New Member How-To Pages - they are really useful as you add profiles and learn your way around:

Let me know if you require assistance. I am happy to help. After adding my own family and ancestors I have found many cousins and distant ancestors here on WikiTree.

Hi Brian, and thank you for volunteering!

Before I can confirm your membership, I’ll need you to add a little more information about your genealogical interests.

You can do this by editing your tags/comments, adding a couple of sentences to your biography, or posting a brief message in the public comments section of your profile page.

Once we know you are here to help grow the tree, a greeter will be happy to confirm your membership. If you have questions about WikiTree, please feel free to contact me via my profile page.

Thanks, David ~ WikiTree Greeter
