Mrs. Jackson, 74, Died Thursday
Funeral services for Mrs. Susan Alice Jackson, 74, who died at the home of her son, Homer Jackson, in Simpson community, Thursday September 19, 1940, were held Friday afternoon from the Simpson Baptist Church with the Rev. C. G. Wells, pastor of the church, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Willie Jackson of Simpson and the Rev. Pratt McCloud, of Leesville. Interment was in the Mt. Pleasant cemetery under the direction of the Dennis Funeral Home.
Mrs. Jackson was the daughter of the late Rev. Allen Jackson one of the first settlers in the Simpson community. She was born and spent her entire lifetime in the Simpson community. She was a member of the Christian church; was married to James Wesley Jackson, November 19, 1880, to which union was born eleven children of which six survive.
Surviving are, two daughters, Mrs. Lonnie Bennett, of Simpson and Mrs. George Pettner, of New York. Four sons, J. E., Lemmie, Homer, and Odie Jackson, all of Simpson. Also, 17 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
