Biography

James was born about 1829. He passed away in 1898.

James H. Jackson signed deed No. 514 on September 27, 1887. The land was sold by Eliza Jackson to William Perry. In another deed No. 339, Alexandre Cormier, Jr. sells land to Eliza Jackson. James H. Jackson was mentioned as being deceased in the latter deed. The date of this deed is May 25, 1907. I found Rufus Jackson's Confederate pension application on Ancestry. It stated he was born in Scriven County, GA on March 3, 1953. Rufus and his father were pressed into service for the Confederate army near Niblett's Bluff as butchers. James' eyesight was too bad to work so his young son butchered cows every day for the army. His pension was denied as said not regular army service. It also stated his father, James Hamilton Jackson, died April 16, 1898.
