3rd G-grandfather John Jackson b-1784, Rutherford NC, died-1849, Chickamauga Georgia. Wife was Eave Lyda Still, married in Rutherford County, NC.

Family has been looking for John’s father over 70 years. Recently family trees on several sites show William Jackson, 1760 - 1808 and Barsheba Levica Meador, 1760 - 1808 as John’s parents.

I would love verification or opinion as to the correctness of this linage before I announce to my family that the mystery is solved.

I am here to answer any question you have, no matter how trivial you may think it is. There is no such thing as a silly question. Please add as much information as you can, it all helps to turn a “name” back into a person. I hope you enjoy the site as much as I do!

Happy tree climbing

Hello Wendy, after my family have searched over 70 years for the parents of my 3rd G-grandfather John Jackson b-1784, Rutherford County NC, died Chickamauga Georgia, 1849, spouse Eave Lyda Still. It is now Showing up on trees at several sites that William Jackson, born New Jersey, & Barsheba Meador were his parents.

I need an expert to find verification of this linage or at least an expert opinion. If you can help or direct me I would appreciate. Of course, being a poor boy, I need a cost estimate in advance. Thanks, Ed Jackso

Hi Ed

You could post in our G2G forum seeking an expert, as there are some members who hold a professional qualification, or you could ask for others to help clarify. Before doing that, I would start on WikiTree by documenting with sources what you do know, since it is always better to have a clear starting point. The fact that you have taken a DNA test should facilitate the process, since your test will be displayed on the profiles of ancestors and their descendants for others to compare with.

To access the G2G, click ‘Help’ in the top right corner and select ‘Forum (g2g)’ in the drop down. When you post, select the category ‘Genealogy Help’ and tag with the surname ‘Jackson’, or better yet the profile ID for John Jackson whose parents you are looking for.

Let me know if you have further questions

Wendy
