Biography

Jennie was born in 1892 to James "Jim" Martin Jacks (1852-1923) and Sarah Wortham (Sikes) (1866-1941) in Jefferson County, Arkansas. She passed away about 1983.

Census Records

(1900 Census for Pine Bluff, Jefferson County, Arkansas.) Jenny aged 8 lived with her parents James Jacks aged 47 and Sarah aged 34. Her paternal grandfather Larkin Jacks aged 73 also lived in the home. Her siblings were Callie aged 27, Albert aged 23, Emma aged 19, Willie aged 17, Tommie aged 15, Andy aged 12, Edgar aged 8 like Jenny and Bertha aged 2. A stepson name Robert Sikes aged 15 was also present. Their next-door neighbor was James and Thomas Steed as well as Lucy Forrester and Tenny McMillian whose daughter Minnie married William Tucker's brother Samuel Marvin Tucker.

(1910 census of Whiteville, Jefferson County, Arkansas.) Jennie aged 18 lived with her husband William H. Tucker, their daughter Vera M. aged 2 and an unknown Lora G. Tucker aged 60 called mother.

(1920 Census of Niven, Jefferson County, Arkansas.) Jinnie aged 27 was widowed and lived with her children Vera aged 11, William aged 9, Earl aged 7, Ada aged 5 and Ora Lee aged 3. Her neighbor was Pearl (McMillian) Roland and her husband James Roland. Pearl was the sister of Minnie who married Samuel Marvin Tucker. She also lived near her father James Jacks, Hettie Mercer and Harvey McMillian the siblings of Minnie McMillian (Tucker), wife of Samuel Marvin Tucker.

(1930 Census of Whiteville, Jefferson County, Arkansas.) Jenie B. Ballew aged 27 lived with her husband Bunion J. Ballew aged 45, the Ballew children named Lee aged 16 and Elzie aged 13 and her children Ada aged 16 and Ora aged 13. They lived next door to Cora Hunt, the sister-n-law of Ida Tucker (Hunt), the sister of William and Samuel Marvin Tucker.

Marriage

Jennie Jacks aged 16 married W. H. Tucker aged 21 in Pine Bluff, Jefferson County, Arkansas on September 8, 1907.[1].

Jennie Tucker aged 33 married J. Bunyon Ballew aged 40 in Pine Bluff, Jefferson County, Arkansas on January 23, 1926.[2].

Death

Jennie Bell Ballew died December 10, 1983 and was buried in the Harmony Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.[3].
