Biography

Nicholas was born in 1784. He married Mary Amelia Grubb in 1815 in Louisiana. He died on 5 Jan 1854 in Sabine County, Texas.

Nicholas was an early settler in the parish of Natchitoches, living on the land prior to 22 Feb 1819. He claimed 640 acres "…lying within the late neutral territory and situated on a branch of the Toreaux…" according to Claims in Louisiana.

Nicholas is listed on the 1830 U.S. Census at Natchitoches, Louisiana, aged 40-49; Nicholas had 14 persons in the household. He is shown on the 1840 census in Natchitoches and 1850 residing in Sabine Parish, Louisiana.
