From the book Tapestry:[1] "[Samuel] and his brother James bought land in New Canaan. James sold his land to his brothers Samuel and John in 1747. Samuel and his wife, Sarah, resided in Ridgefield."
Samuel and Sarah had (at least) four children:
Elizabeth Jacklin married Jack Rowland Freeman on 24 June 1784 in Ridgefield. Jack Freeman was from Redding, and he had selected that name when he was emancipated as a reward for his serving in the Revolution with the Fifth Connecticut. He and Elisabeth eventually bought a Redding spread from his former enslavers and became well-known and respected farmers.[2]
