Adam was born in Astrakhan, Russia, where his parents were missionaries (see Rev John Jack)
He first married Emma Hill and in 1851 they had three children. The eldest, Margaret, was the niece that Adam's father's biography was written for.
By 1861 they had 10 children and were living in Govan. Lanarkshire, Scotland
Emma died in 1863, and Adam married Agnes Fulton, and they had 6 children/
He died in 1878, and is buried in Abney Park Cemetery, London, Middlesex, England.
