Biography

Descendant of Adam Ivey.

Elias was born about 1820, probably in Columbia County, the youngest of 5 children to Eldridge P Ivey and Edith Ivey. His siblings were: James H, Zebedee, Thomas J, and Elizabeth.

He married before 1850 to Mary Elizabeth Butler, daughter of William Booker Butler Sr and Mary Elizabeth Hemphill. He was about 30 years old. They had at least 4 children together:

2. Zebediah Etheridge Ivey
3. Thomas Jefferson Ivey
4. Elias Ivey

Elias passed away in 1859 at the age of 39. His youngest son was only 10 months old. It is not known where he is buried.
