Sophia Arabella Irwin, also known as Aruin Bera in Japan and better known as Bella Irwin, was born in Tokyo Prefecture in November 1883, the daughter of Robert Walker Irwin and his Japanese wife Takechi Iki. She founded the Irwin School, currently known as Gyokusei Training College of Infant Care and Education as of 2024, in 1916. She died in Tokyo on June 12, 1957.
