Oliver was born in 1833. He was the son of Mahlon Irey and Rachel McBride. Private Oliver Irey served in the US Army during the Civil War in Company "G," 158th Regiment Indiana Infantry. He passed away in 1905, and was buried at Marion National Cemetery, Marion, Grant County, Indiana, in Section 1, Row 8 South Side, Plot 1191.[1]
