Military

Steve Inglett was a Corporal in the United States Marine Corp and served in Vietnam.[5]He served from October 1, 1963 and was released on November 15, 1967 [6] after becoming severely injured. [7]
He completed recruit training on December 19, 1963 at Parris Island. [8]
In November of 1964, he took part in Operation Steel Pike, the largest peacetime amphibious landing exercise in history, conducted by the United States Navy and Marine Corps and taking place on the coast of Spain. (You can watch a video about here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-KyaqqBt62c). [9]
In 1965, as a PFC, he was again sent to Spain with Battalion Land Team 2-2, deployed to the Mediterranean on one of the ships with the Amphibias Squadron 4 whose flagship was the attack transport, USS Freemont. [10]
His brother was in Vietnam at the same time. However, since family divisions were so bad that some members weren't even speaking, the family didn't know they were both there, until both young men returned to the United States.

In the Media

Steve's Letter to the editor.
In 1972, Steve wrote a letter to the editor expressing outrage about Senator McGcevern's amnesty ideals and speaks about being disabled by multiple injuries sustained in Viet Nam.
"Boy, Is Senator McGovern's thinking sick. I was in the Marine Corps for and one half years and was wounded two times. I now have a 60 percent disability.
Did I want to fight? No. Was I scared? Hell, yes. Buthere comes a time in everyone's life when we must fight for what we believe. We can't always do what we rather because there is always someone a little smarter than we are who sees the situation from a better standpoint. But Senator McGovern is not this man. To grant amnesty to all the guys with red and yellow streaks down their backs will reduce our nation to a pack of whining, begging cowards. As for myself, "I'd rather fight than switch." Would I go to Viet Nam again fight for this great country? Yes. So don't let Senator McGovern take what we fought and turn itto something to be ashamed of.
