Obituary

Mr. Gerald Wayne Imel, age 72, of Madison, Indiana entered this life on December 2, 1940 on Pleasant Ridge in Jefferson County, Indiana. He was the loving son of the late, Howard & Geraldine Ryker Imel. He resided all of his life in Jefferson County and was a 1958 graduate of Central High School and attended Purdue University receiving a degree in surveying. Gerald Wayne was united in marriage on August 26, 1959 at the Caledonia Presbyterian Church to Shelby Jean Ralston. This happy union was blessed with two sons, Gary and Ronald. Gerald loved to farm and was devoted to that profession his entire life. He also had worked as a psychiatric attendant at the Madison State Hospital from 1961-2003. He enjoyed painting and restoring farm equipment, his cows and other farm animals. Gerald enjoyed the love of his dogs very much. Gerald was known for the ability to look at something and recreate it. He was an excellent carpenter, devoted husband, loving dad and adoring grandpa. Gerald died Friday, December 7, 2012 at 9:05 a.m. at his home near Madison, Indiana with his loving family at his side.

A LOVING FAMILY
Gerald will be missed by his devoted wife of fifty three years: Shelby Jean Ralston Imel of Madison, Indiana; his loving son: Gary Wayne Imel and his wife, Wanda of Madison, Indiana; his loving grandchildren: Justin, Derek, Suzannah, Cassidy and Cody; his adoring great grandchildren: Hannah, Collin and Ronald Luke; his step grandchildren: Glenn and Crystal; his loving mother in law: Ernestine Ralston of Madison, Indiana; his daughter in law: Delores "Dena" Imel-Webster of Madison, Indiana; his sister in law: Patty Imel of Madison, Indiana; several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard Imel, who died January 27, 1991 and Geraldine Ryker Imel, who died November 11, 1993; his son, Ronald Gene Imel, who died March 13, 2001; his brother, Carl Imel; his sisters, Mary Ellen Imel Croxton who died, Sept. 19, 2011 and her husband, J.C. Croxton who died October 17, 2008 and Betty Jean Imel Wyatt and her husband, Bill Wyatt; his father in law, Robert L. Ralston, who died July 23, 1995; his niece, Bonnie Jean Wyatt Moulton and his nephew, Robert Wyatt.

FUNERAL CEREMONY
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at 11:00 a.m., by Bro. George A. Severn and Pastor K.C. Banta at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Caledonia Cemetery near Moorefield, Indiana.

VISITATION
Friends may call Monday from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of the service at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana.

MEMORIAL EXPRESSIONS
Memorial contributions may be made to the Caledonia Cemetery. Cards are available at the funeral home.
