Biography

Thomas was born in 1581. He was the son of Matthew Hutton and Beatrix Fincham. He entered Queen's College of Cambridge University in 1597, and was admitted at Gray's Inn 1 November 1599.^[1]

He married Anne Bennet, daughter of Sir John Bennet of Dawley, near Uxbridge, and a relative by marriage of John Piers, Archbishop of York 1588-94. Together they had at least two children^[2]: Elizabeth Hutton (b. 17 Feb 1619-d. 1662); and Richard Hutton (of Popleton). Thomas was knighted 6 August 1617.^[3] He died 23 January 1620, aged 39, and is buried at Nether Poppleton.^[4]
