Mary Hutson was born in New Cumnock, Ayrshire, Scotland, United Kingdom on the 6th of August 1866. She was the daughter of Andrew Hutson and Margaret Hunter.^[1]

In 1881, Mary was living at home with her family in Auchinleck, Ayrshire, Scotland, United Kingdom.^[2]

I am the granddaughter of Helen Hutson ( b. 1888 ? ) in or near Cumnock, Ayrshire. Helen was the younger sister of Mary, found on your site. Helen and her older sister Elizabeth travelled to New Zealand sometime in the early 1900s. They never returned to the UK. Helen then married Henry Palmer in 1912, and had five children, followed by twenty two grandchildren. I can supply names here and some dates of births, deaths and marriages. Questions I have at present are verifying dates and adding information. One important question is whether Helen’s mother Margaret Hunter ( b. 1844 in Ireland) died in the UK or New Zealand in 1912. Her death appears to have been recorded in New Zealand. Also, we have very little information re Henry Palmer, other than he was born or resided in Bath, Somerset.
