Biography

James Husted born 11 Aug 1748 at Stamford, Connecticut the son of Zebulon and Abigail Husted.[1]

Married Ruth Bennett 23 Nov 1773 at Easton, Connecticut.[2]

The date the family moved to Tioga County, Pennsylvania is uncertain however James, son of Zebulon, is clearly identified in the 1830 US Census as in Rutland, Tioga County[3] and it is possible the 1840 Census records of James Husted are also his.[4] Whether he is the grist mill operator James Husted found in the History of Tioga County is uncertain, "In 1834 Daniel Harkness erected a grist-mill on the Tioga river, south of the borough limits. In 1834 the mill was transferred to James Husted, who operated it until 1837, when it became the property of Isaac Baker..."[5] It is possible the mill operator is the son James.

Ruth passed away 20 Jan 1843 and is interred at Old Settlers Cemetery, Covington, Tioga, Pennsylvania.[6]

There is no record of James' death and the grave marker believed to be his next to that of Ruth is so worn that no inscription may be seen.[7]
