Research Notes

There is currently little in the way of documentary evidence of William. He appears in various family records but without documentation. He is frequently seen married to various different wives living in various parts of New York State based upon Census records which may or may not pertain to a William Husted youngest son of Abraham and Sarah (Palmer) Husted.

In 1830 US Census, a William Husted, living in Pittstown with a wife and two children under the age of 5 (one boy, one girl). [2]

These are him on the census, maybe?

Son said to be Daniel Husted (abt.1830-)

It is uncertain if the Census records from 1855-1880 for William Husted born 1803 living in Pittstown and Hoosick represent the same man but it appears that they may. Is this the same William Husted found Pittstown in the 1830 and 1840 Census records? T Stanton 7 Dec 2020

If the 1865 NYS Census date for the William Husted living in Hoosick is the same man, then his wife has died since 1860, he was married one time, and he is now living as a boarder in the home of Daniel Hitchcock where he is the oldest man in the home by some years. Occupation is listed as Carpenter which is t he same as the 1855 and 1860 William Husted. [3]

The 1875 NYS Census indicates that William married a second time to a woman, Anna said to be born Oswego, who is his junior by 40 years. There are also now three young children in the household who are Albert and Arthur ages 6 and 4 and a granddaughter Lilly age 9.[4]

US Census 1880 with Anna and now a third son.[5]

A will is for the William husband of Anna and father of Albert, Arthur, et al, is found dated 18 Jul 1881 and probated 8 Jun 1882. Hoosick, Rensselaer, New York. Abstract: son David receives $1; wife Anna the household goods; sons Albert, Arthur, Howard and wife Anna to enjoy the benefits of his property until Howard turns 21 at which time the estate is to be divided between them.[6]
