Congratulations, you've been a WikiTree member for a month! We're glad you're here. A few tips to help you dive in even deeper:
Check out Beyond the Basics of WikiTree for a guide on some of our more advanced features such as Projects, Categories, and Merging.
We're very active on our social sites and we have an excellent blog where you'll find our monthly newsletter as well as tips, interviews with our members and guest posts from others in the genealogy community.
As always, I'm here to help if you have any questions!
Hello Lisa, you seem to be creating many profiles from the 1500-1700 period, but not adding any sources. Remember the Honor code specifies that we add sources, if you are having some problems finding good sources for this family, then asking for assistance on G2G is always a good idea. I also noticed that you are adding some birth and death places, but also remember these should be in the language of the country involved not English eg it should be Marseille not Marseilles.
HI, I see you are working on merges, Merged Robinson-10950 into Robinson-9357, you may want to review Merging FAQs to understand your responsibilities in doing merges. Remember, after the merge you will want to clean up the text. During a merge, the text from the merged-away profile is simply appended onto the end of the text of the merged-into profile. You will want to integrate it into a single biography and a single sources section. If you have any questions, just let me know.
Welcome to WikiTree! Were really glad youre here.
The initial email from us has helpful links that will get you started on WikiTree, which is not like any genealogy site youve ever used.
WikiTree is different because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we all work together as one collaborative team.
What brings you to WikiTree? Do you have research youd like to share? Are you interested in how your family fits into the big tree?
When you confirm your email address, youll see a Volunteer option on your profile page. Click that and leave us a short message about your genealogical interests.
A Greeters Project volunteer will be happy to confirm your membership, and youll be on your way!
