Biography

Welcome

I receive quite a bit of correspondence from people who are disappointed that I am not their relative.

If you have landed on this page because I am the Profile Manager for a Wikitree profile, please note that unless the person was born in the United Kingdom, they are probably not related to me.

Here is a list of individuals who are my blood relatives. (You can open a new tab by pressing down the control key before clicking on the hyperlink). The list is currently being constructed and not all individuals have been categorised.

Here is a list of all of the profiles I have created who are NOT related to me

At the foot of every profile, there is a Category box. You will find these category tags shown there if applicable.

My Reasons for Posting Profiles who are not in my family tree

The main reason is to increase the representation of Australians on Wikitree. Here are some of the reasons why I have created profiles and researched that person's immediate family tree, usually starting with a death notice in Trove.

  • Individuals who have uncommon surnames, eg Deayton, Metters
  • Individuals who live beyond the typical lifetime, especially people who live to more than 100 years old
  • Individuals who lived in parts of Melbourne of which I am very familiar
  • Individuals who are the subject of death notices that provide more information about the extended family than normal

My Family Tree Progress

Generation Name Number # Identified Percentage
1 Me 1 1 100
2 Parents 2 2 100
3 Grandparents 4 4 100
4 Great Grandparents 8 8 100
5 Grx2 Grandparents 16 16 100
6 Grx3 Grandparents 32 16 50
7 Grx4 Grandparents 64 6 9

About Me

Born 1975 [1] in Hertford British Hospital in Greater Paris, France to Scottish parents. As far as I am aware all of my ancestors were also Scottish (though I'd love to find something else).

I emigrated to Victoria, Australia in 1984 (age 9) where I have lived ever since.

G'day Andrew, thanks for the edits. Still attempting to understand the formatting of source stuff and pages links text and the like. I don't know why I use [[ ]]. I need to download a good page and copy the format. May be I grab yours as it is so clean looking. :)

I am more interested in finding at least one original source for each of my additions. However when I return pages have been cleaned up all good, but I don't learn much of how to correct my imports that way. Ill keep looking at the Data Dr vids and get my head around WikiTree over time. Again thanks for the support.

Hi Andrew, cheers for the mail, I did a load of looking and William Crawford McCrackens, father Robert was from Girvan, Ayrshire. I have done a few www.findagraves.com for them. Yes the Brewers I know the family well. I also know McCrackens in Melbourne who descend from the two brewer brothers who started McCracken Pale Ale.
