HAROLD E. HULLINGER, PROMINENT VERNAL EDUCATOR, DIES SUNDAY

Harold Everett Hullinger, 71, of Vernal, died Sunday at 1:15 a.m. in Salt Lake City of complications following surgery. The prominent educator, farmer and LDS worker was a native of Vernal and resided here all his life.
Mr. Hullinger was born December 11, 1899, in Vernal to Winfield Scott and Emma Theresa Lybbert Hullinger. He married Jennie Lewis Hullinger June 6, 1924 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
He received his B. S. degree from Utah State University and also attended the Brigham Young University and the University of Utah. He served an LDS mission to the southern states from 1919 to 1921.
Active in the LDS Church, he served as high councilman for 22 years and was bishop of Vernal Second and Fourth Wards for seven years. He had served as superintendent of Uintah Stake Sunday School. He was stake building and grounds inspector and a high priest group leader at the time of his death.
Mr. Hullinger taught school for many years. He was past president of the Utah Teachers Association and a charter member of the Knife and Fork Club and the National Black Angus Association.
A registered scout for over 25 years, he served as chairman of the Uintah District Council, Boy Scouts of America, for approximately three years, beginning in 1942.
Survivors include his widow, Vernal; five sons and s daughter, Harold Hugo, Taylorsville; Everett Paul, Smithfield; Richard Lewis, Portland, Oregon; Don Rogers, Granger; Floyd Earl, Orem and Venetta Probst, Lansing, Michigan.
Also 24 grandchildren, brothers and sisters, Mary Norton, Salt Lake City; Jesse, Rigby, Idaho; Norma McClean, Vernal; Jake, Provo; Owen, Salt Lake City and Hollis, Roosevelt.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the Vernal Fourth Ward Chapel. Bishop Don Walker conducted. Ruth Walker played prelude music. Owen A. Hullinger, brother, gave the invocation.
Bishop Walker gave the obituary and remarks. Special musical numbers were "Oh My Father", "The Lord Is My Shepherd" and "In The Garden."
Speakers were Jessie and Hollis Hullinger, son. Karl Manwaring, nephew, gave the benediction.
Pallbearers were Hugo, Paul, Dick, Don and Floyd Hullinger, sons and Jay Hullinger, grandson. Burial was in the Vernal Memorial Park. Many persons attended from out of town.
