Biography
Charlotte was born Dec. 1885 the daughter of Martin Abraham Hullinger and Laura Ann Dale, Sand Creek/Pleasant Township Union County, Iowa. Martin and Laura were married on Nov. 10, 1881, Hamilton Twp. Decatur county, Iowa. This union produced seven children who married and mostly were farmers, Christians and have many descendants today.
The 1900 US Census, place Martin & Laura living as farmers, 7 children, married 19 years, residents of Union county, Iowa and a family of English/German origin from Ohio and the couple are evidence of the cousin marriage and family of cousins. We have sons Melvin M. and Victor E. born 1882 who were twins or one maybe born in 1892; Charlotte O. 1885; Minnie E 1887; Sherman Jackson 1889; Earl Victor 1892; Cecil S. 1896 and Milo Martin Hullinger .
Charlotte Opal married Alma E. Poole on Nov. 4, 1903, Leon, Iowa most likely in the home of one of the family, Charlotte and Leon were members of the local Baptist church of Leon, farmers and many newspaper clips tell a busy fellowship and hospitality of many friends and family. Their descendants today carry on this love of the land, animals, farming and small town rural values that produce the flinty Midwest character.
Charlotte Opal died on Dec. 18, 1940, eleven years before Alma and went to rest in the Lord. Buried occurred in Leon Cemetery Leon Decatur county, Iowa.
