Lorenzo was born about 1805. He passed away in 1843. Documented sources of Lorenzo's lineage have been elusive thus far. Belief is that he is the son of Zephaniah Hull and Rachel Gilbert and was born in Cornwall, Litchfield, Connecticut.
Information contained in Revolutionary War Pensioners, 1801-1815, 1818-1872 [database on-line], Zephaniah Hull and Rachell Gilbert had six children, 5 of the children were listed as being alive as of 1855: Elizabeth Betsey Hull Ives, John C. Hull, Lucy Hull, Eben Hull and Curtiss Hull. The deceased child was not named.
The record indicates that one of the children had suffered an accident causing an injury to a hip and was referred to by witnesses as being "a cripple". The year of the documentation and the age of the do not disqualify Lorenzo as being this child.
The record also sheds light on the lack of genealogical records as Rachel Gilbert made application to receive Zephaniah's pension, after his passing in 1841. Rachel lamented that the church where they were married did not keep records and the family bible, which contained the information, was lost when the family needed to move from their home in Cornwall to Litchfield (witnesses mentioned that the family had fallen on hard times due to medical expenses of the child's injury and illness of Rachel. Zephaniah was unable to maintain his farm and sold his land and other assets to pay creditors.
