Biography

National Flag of Wales
Mary (Hulin) Shorney was born in Wales.

The Forest of Dean, where Mary was born and grew up is currently at the western edge of Gloucestershire in an area between the Rivers Severn and Wye, on the border with Wales. Through the census periods it has been included in both England and Wales. The registration districts were Chepstow and Monmouth, giving the impression that that area is in Wales, however it has mainly been Gloucestershire, England.

Mary was born in 1867[1] She was the daughter of Isaac Hulin and Leah Robbins. She was born in St Briavels, Gloucestershire and was registered in the local town of Chepstow.

She was living with her parents and siblings in Monmouthshire, Wales and she was attending school in 1871[2]

She was still living with her parents and siblings still in St Briavels (Gloucs), Monmouthshire, Wales and she was still attending school in 1881[3]

She was still living at home with her parents and siblings in Monmouthshire, Wales in 1891[4]

She married Thomas Shorney in 1896 in Cardiff, Glamorganshire, Wales[5]

She was living with her husband and daughter Elsie in Newport, Gloucestershire, England in 1901[6]

She was still living with her husband and daughter Elsie in Llanhilleth, Monmouthshire, Wales in 1911[7]

She passed away in 1935[8]
