William Hulet was the son of Henry Hulit and Catherine Delong.
At the time of her marriage to Peter Lossing, Catherine DeLong had three natural sons. John McAuley, born 21 May 1783, son of John McAuley, Clymond Vanderburgh, born 15 September 1787, son of Peter Vanderburg, and William Hulet or Hulit, born August 1794, son of Henry Hulit. [1]
William came with his mother and stepfather to Norwich, Ontario and became a Quaker.
Norwich preparative meeting held 25th of 8 mo. 1819 – The Overseers forwarded to this Meeting a Request from William Hulet to come under the care of Friends, which we forward to the Monthly Meeting [2]
March 21 1821 William married Eliza Smith
Whereas William Hulet Son of Catherine Lossing of the town of Norwich County of oxford Destrict of London and Province of Uppercanada and Eliza Smith Daughter of Elizabeth Crostwaite of the town of Barton County of Wentworth and Province Aforesaid Having Laid their intentions of Mariage With Each other Before two Monthly Meeting of the Society of Friends held at Norwich they having Consent of Parents and Nothing appearing to obstruct their proposal of Mariage Were allowed by the Meetings these are to Certify that for the accomplishment of their intentions this twenty first of third Month in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and twenty one the Said William Hulet and Eliza Smith appeared in a Public Meeting of the said Society held at Norwich the Said William Hulet taken the Sd Eliza Smith by the hand Did on this sollemn occasion Declare that he took her to be His wife Promising through Divine assistance to be Unto her a faithful and Loving husband untill Seperated by Death or words to that effect and then the Said Eliza Smith did in like manner declare that She took the Sd William Hulet to be her husband Promising through Divine assistance to be unto him A faithful and Loving Wife untill Seperated by Death or Words to that import and they the Sd William Hulet and Eliza Smith She according to the Custom of Mariage assuming the name of her Husband as a further Confirmation thereof Did then and there to these presents Set their hands William Hulet Eliza Hulet
And we being present Have Subscribed Our Names as witnesses thereof

William was appointed Clerk of the Norwich Monthly Meeting in 1820, and was active in the meetings for years.
Norwich Preparative Meeting held the 1st of 11th Mo. 1820 This Meeting appoints Wm. Hulet to the service of a Cl[e]rk for one year [5]
When the Hicksite controversy divided the Quaker congregations around 1830, William, his wife, and children remained with the Orthodox branch. He and his two half-brothers are listed together on the list of May 1830, identifying Orthodox and Hicksites. [6]
In the 1851 census, Eliza's age was recorded as 52, so she was born around 1799 [7]
William died in 1869 [8]
