At the SAR website a search for John Hoyt results in this link: Minuteman Award <https://www.sar.org/minuteman-award Minuteman Award>. The link is apparently inaccessible except to members. It is a prestigious service award granted to an SAR member. Apparently that member is descended from a John Hoyt.

Darlene, the GedCom I uploaded had his dob as "about 1640." I have no idea where 1740 would have come from. Someone must have done a merge, but I don't see any other owner.

How can he have been born in 1740 when his parents were married in about 1646?
