Biography

Ezra Northrup Hoyt was born on July 13 1819, son of Benjamin Hoyt and Betsey Northrup ^[1] and christened at Church of Christ, Salem, Westchester, New York. ^[2]

• 1844: August 16: he granted land at Westchester, New York to Henry Hoyt and others. ^[3]
• 1846: April 30: He leased land at Westchester to Samuel M. Denton. ^[4]
• 1846: April 30: On the same date Ezra N. Hoyt and wife, granted land to George Fox. ^[5]

He married Mary Elizabeth Canfield on December 13, 1843 at Ridgefield, Connecticut. ^[6] Mary was born about October, 1823, and they resided in Ridgefield. ^[1]

Ezra died on October 5, 1885 ^[7] age 66 years, 2 months and 22 days and is buried Scott's Cemetery at Ridgefield. ^[8]

His wife Mary died on July 4, 1889 ^[9]age 65 years, 8 months and 6 days and with Ezra. ^[8]

1. Samuel Northrup born on August 3, 1847 ^[1]; married Susan Benjamin, daughter of Joel Benjamin and Harriet Mills, at Manhattan, New York on October 29, 1868 ^[10] ; died in 1913.^[11]
2. Chester born on February 6, 1850 ^[1]; married Josephine Brown on October 5, 1871. ^[12] Josephine was the daughter of Silas and Jane (Mead) Brown ^[13]
3. Elizabeth Amy born on June 23, 1852 ^[1]; married Elias Sammis, son of John and Abigail (Hawkshurst) Sammis. ^[12]
4. Cyrus born on May 16, 1854. ^[1]
5. Mary Emma born on February 21 ,1857 ^[1]; married Eugene Lockwood, son of Andreas and Hannah (Rich) Lockwood of Ridgefield, at Lewisboro, New York on July 9, 1873. ^[12]
6. Anna M. born on May 7, 1862. ^{[1] [12]}
