Biography

Mahalaer Elizabeth Howlett was born on 13 June 1875 in Hetton-Le-Hole, Durham, England. She is the daughter of William and Mahali Howlett.

In 1881, she was a student living with her parents in Lyon Street, Hetton-Le-Hole^[1]

She married George Thomas Soulsby on 17 April 1897 in Newcastle-upon-Tyne and they had 5 children. In 1911, they were living in South Shields, Durham.

Her husband George emigrated to Australia in 1911 on the "Goeben" and she and the 5 children followed 12 months later arriving on the "Belgic" in June 1912.

Mahalaer died on 21 January 1935^[2][3] and she is buried in the West Terrace Cemetery, Adelaide^[4].
