In the 1880 census Jefferson (age 17), Farming, was the single son of Josiah Howser in District 2, Grainger, Tennessee, United States.[3] Josiah Howser 58, wife Louisa Howser 58, daughter Dorah An Howser 36, son William M. Howser 23, son Josiah P. Howser 22, son Jefferson D. Howser 17, son Franklin L. Howser 13, son John J. Howser 29.

In the 1900 census Jefferson (age 38) was the married head of household in Election Precinct 5 Fabius, Jackson, Alabama, United States.[4] Jefferson D Howser 38, wife Edie Howser 38, son Joe Howser 13, daughter Maud Howser 12, son Emory Howser 10, daughter Annie Howser 7, daughter Buela Howser 4.

In the 1910 census Jefferson (age 46) was the married head of household in Pisgah, Jackson, Alabama, United States.[5] Jefferson C Howser 46, wife Charlcie L Hower 27, son Joseph S Howser 24, son Emery J Howser 17, son Elmer D Howser 7, son John H Howser 3, daughter Vanda M Howser 2.

Jefferson died on 25 Sep 1925 in Albany, Morgan, Alabama aged 63.[6]
