Biography

Mathias Boor Householder married Rebecca Barkus on 12 Jun 1817 in Jefferson County, Ohio. ^[1]

The couple had at least nine children:

In 1850, he and Rebecca were living in Saline Township, Jefferson, Ohio with nine of their children. ^[2]

In 1860 they were living in Township of Yellow Creek, Columbiana, Ohio with their three youngest children. ^[3]

In 1870 he and Rebecca were living in Saline Township, Jefferson, Ohio with their son Calvin and his wife. ^[4]

Research Notes

• Mathias was listed as Mathew in the 1850 census. There was another, younger Mathias living in the same town, with a wife named Susanah.
• There were several Householder families in Jefferson County, Ohio, and they had children of similar ages with the same names. More work will be required to sort them out.
• He is said to be the son of Mathias Haushalter (1751-abt.1816) and his wife Eva Krick. Many of the children came to Ohio around 1804, but the parents and youngest son Joshua remained in Augusta County, Virginia. More research is needed to prove this.
