Zechariah Hosmer Jr. served with Connecticut Navy during the American Revolution.

"About the year 1819, Zachariah Hosmer, the father of Alonzo Hosmer, from Middlesex county, Connecticut, settled on a farm on the center road, lying west of the Bateman lot, upon which he lived till his death, in 1856, at the age of ninety-four. Mr. Hosmer was a soldier in the war of the Revolution."^[1]

Zachariah fought during the American Revolution.^[2][3]

Zachariah died in 1856^[4][5] and is buried in Lower Cemetery in Parkman, Ohio.^[6][7]

Research Notes

• Dates need further investigation. His grave stone notes a date of birth as 1757 and date of death as 1851.^[9] However, the "Ohio Deaths and Burials, 1854-1997" indicate a date of death in 1856.^[4]

The 1762 date of birth is used because it is the most commonly used and is referenced in "The Hosmer Heritage: Ancestors and Descendants of the Emigrant Thomas Hosmer" source. It also roughly matches the estimated birth year on census records.
