Biography

Private Simeon Hopkins served with 6th Massachusetts Regiment (1777), Continental Army during the American Revolution.

Simeon Hopkins was killed in action during the American Revolution.

This man served in the 6th Massachusetts Regiment of the Continental Line (often referred to as the 7th). The regiment saw action at Saratoga, Cobleskill, Cherry Valley, and during the Sullivan Campaign.

Simeon Hopkins (KIA) was born on 11 March 1758 in MA. He was the son of Simeon Hopkins & Betty Cobb. Hopkins served in the military from 19 March 1776 to 6 October 1776 as a private in Capt. Lithgow's Company at Falmouth on seacoast duty. He enlisted from Harpswell, ME under Captain Reed on 20 February 1777. He served in the 6th Massachusetts Regiment from 20 February 1777 to 11 November 1778. Hopkins died on 11 November 1778 in as part of the attack on Cherry Valley. His body "Partely Eate up by wild Beasts" was not discovered until February.
