Biography

William Hooton son of William Hooton and his wife, Elizabeth was baptised at Welton in Lincolnshire on the 12th of May 1816. ^[1]

He became a blacksmith and in 1840 married Mary Ann Greenfield, daughter of Robert Greenfield. ^[2] They lived at first in his mother's home. ^[3] They had their own home ten years later with William's mother and shoemaker brother living with them and their children. ^[4]

Things did not go well for William for in 1871 he was a live-in servant in the household of Blacksmith, Simon Chappell, though he was still married.^[5] He was still there in 1881 but by this time he was a widower. ^[6]

William died in 1900 his death being registered in Sleaford. ^[7]
