Tobe Hooper was an American director, screenwriter, and producer best known for his work in the horror genre
Tobe was born in 1943. His productions include The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974), the television mini-series of Salem's Lot (1979), The Funhouse (1981), and Poltergeist (1982), based on a story by Steven Spielberg. The British Film Institute cited him as one of the most influential horror filmmakers of all time. He died in 2017.
