Biography

I like the collaborative nature of Wikitree. It's good fun and there are great people here! Every profile I own I create manually as I have found using GEDCOMs created errors, messy profiles and duplicates.

Research Interests

I have won life's lottery, I am an Australian who is very proud of her heritage. I descend from brave and intrepid women whose stories inspire me every day - it is a pleasure to build out their histories here on Wikitree.

My number one brickwall to bust through is the parentage of my ancestor William Green. If you happen to be interested in early Australian convict and settler families by the surname DILLON and its variants, you have come to the right place!!  :-)

If you are looking at this profile because you are interested in the Pogson, Freeman and Milward families of St Kitts & Nevis, please get in touch. I have done a lot of research about them. My holy grail is to find a DNA connection to these families - at the moment I am reliant on genealogical records.

I am descended from families who lived in the area of Watten, Bower and Lyth in Caithness and I run a place study on Watten. Finally, I am doing a one name study of the surname HOOLIHAN and SPELLACY in an effort to find out more about my Irish ancestors.

I recently discovered that I am descended from William the Conqueror through my paternal grandmother. More research needed to verify this!

Hi Leigh

It's time for a One Name Studies Project check-in!

Could you please advise me which One Name Studies you're still actively coordinating, i.e. maintaining the main study page and associated research pages, and replying to queries/comments from members.

You can respond to this message by posting a reply below or sending me a private message on WikiTree. I look forward to hearing from you!

If I don’t receive your response within the next three weeks, I’ll assume that your interests have changed or you are no longer able to coordinate any One Name Studies, and you'll be removed from the project.

Regards

Jacqueline Baxter, ONS Project Co-Leader

I am still interested in the project, thank you!
Hi Leigh,

It is once again time for our annual Ireland Project check-in. Please respond within the next three weeks to let us know:

  1. If you would like to continue as an Ireland Project member. If your answer is yes, please tell us if you are happy with your current team, or if you would prefer to join a different one. If you are currently participating in more than one team we would appreciate you ranking them in their order of importance to you, from highest priority to lowest. This information will be helpful as we consider possible future changes to our team structure.
  2. In the past, the project has had a very minimal membership requirement (one contribution per year) for badged members to meet. Do you believe this is adequate, or should this requirement be increased? What do you believe would be a reasonable commitment to expect from all project members?
  3. How active have you been in the Ireland Project over the past year? Please choose one of the following options: a) I normally spend 1-5 hours per month helping achieve my team’s goals. b) I normally spend 6-10 hours per month helping achieve my team’s goals. c) I spend over 10 hours per month helping achieve my team’s goals. d) I am not able to contribute every month but have spent approximately ________ hours during the past year improving Irish profiles.
  4. Please provide feedback on any things you’d like to see the project do more of in the future.

You can respond to this message by posting a reply below or sending me a private message on WikiTree. If we don’t hear from you within the next three weeks we’ll assume your interests have changed or you no longer are able to participate in the Ireland Project at this time, and your badge will be removed. If your circumstances change later you will be welcome to reapply for membership.

Many thanks for all that so many of you have contributed to the project in the past year, and very special thanks to those who answered the project’s call and gave generously of their time to be part of Team Seanchaithe during the most recent connect-a-thon. We are looking forward to hearing from you.

It's time for the One Place Studies Project Check-In!

We've put together a survey for you to fill out to check in with you, it will only take a moment as there are only a few questions. Filling out the survey lets us know you are still interested in coordinating your study and provides an opportunity for you to share any suggestions you may have for the project.

If you have decided to step away from your study, please reply to this comment to that effect.

Hi Leigh

I’ve not heard back from you regarding the Anzac Project July, 2022 check in (subproject of the Military and War Project) I noticed you had the notice posted that you were away. It has now been over one month since I sent messages. The badge has been removed for the project for now. However, if you’d like to rejoin at any stage you would be most welcome to do so by answering the G2G sign-up post military-and-war-project here.

Many thanks,

Mary~ Project Coordinator, Military and War Project

Hi Again Leigh,

I sent you a check-in message ten days ago about the ANZACS Project July check in (subproject of Military and War Project). Although the message asked you about your continued involvement, I have not yet heard back from you. Do you still want to be in the project? If I do not hear from you by the same time next week, I will assume that you've moved on to other things. You are most welcome to re-join the project at any time by answering the g2g posting.

Best wishes,

Hi, Leigh!

Thank you for your participation in October’s 2020 Source-a-thon. Your contributions helped us to clear over 57,000 profiles that needed sourcing. This makes our Shared Tree all that much better.

Keep up the great work!

Hello, Leigh,

It has been a few weeks since we contacted you about your participation in the Black Sheep Project and as we haven't heard from you, we are following up to make sure you wish to remain a member.

We understand that interests shift as we grow our shared tree and that some members may have moved on to projects more pertinent to the branches they are currently building. If this is the case for you, please let us know.

If we do not hear back from you within the week, we will assume you have moved on to other things for the moment and remove you from the project. Please know that you will always be welcome to rejoin should your interests shift back in this direction.

Hi Leigh,

I haven’t heard back from you about the break up of the United Kingdom Project. I hope all is well with you. I assume you don’t wish to join any of the country-level projects at present, and will go ahead and remove the United Kingdom badge. If you wish to join England, Scotland, Wales or Ireland in the future, you would be most welcome to do so via the respective G2G sign-up post.

Many thanks for all your contributions,

Susie :-)

Hi Leigh,

We realise the time has come to dissolve the UK Project in favour of the individual country projects of England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland.

We are checking in with all UK badge holders to find out which country project(s) you would like to be in so you can collaborate with other members, have the opportunity to select which team(s) you would like to join, and so we can ensure you have all the correct badges.

Please respond by PM to let us know which country project(s) you would like to be in. Please don’t assume we know. We are effectively starting from scratch to make sure no one falls through the cracks.

Once you have done this, the Coordinator for Membership in the relevant country project(s) will be in touch to help get you situated.

Many thanks,

Susie
