John Holyfield of Dobson Succumbs At 78
Mount AIRY—John E. Holyfield, 78 of Dobson, retired landscape artist died yesterday at the Baptist Hospital, Winston-Salem, where he had been a patient four days.
He was born in Surry County.
Survivors are his wife , Mrs. Leatha Cave Holyfield; one son, Thomas of Detroit, one daughter, Mrs. G. Warren of Philadelphia, PA.; 11 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Lucy Callahan, Mrs. Richard Slaydon, and Mrs. Abe White of Dobson, and Mrs. Henry Fowler of High Point.
Funeral will be at 2pm Thursday in Piney Grove Baptist Church by Rev. L. E. Myers. Rev. D. D. Hodges and Elder Coy Sykes. Burial will be in the church cemetery.[1]
