Biography

Lieutenant James Holloway Jr. served with York County Militia, Virginia Militia during the American Revolution.

Lt. James Holloway was born 26 Feb 1744 (baptized 31 Mar 1745) to James Holloway (1711-1786) and Elizabeth Hunt ^{[1] [2] [3]}.

James Holloway was a lieutenant in the Revolutionary War ^{[2] [3]}. SAR states service as ALSO ENS, 2ND LT, 1ST LT, Captain LT; CAPTS JOHN BRENT, JAMES LUCAS; MAJ ISAAC BEALL LColonel JOHN NEVILL; COLS ROBERT LAWSON, JAMES WOOD; 4TH, 8TH, & 12TH VA REGTS. ^[4][5]

He died after 1809 in York Co. He was unmarried and had no children ^{[2] [3]}.

Research Notes

A previous version of this profile listed a daughter named Christa (Holloway) Chaney (abt.1776-aft.1850) along with a death date of 1829 in Jessamine, Kentucky. It is likely that it was previously conflating three distinct James Holloways:

• The one this profile actually represents by citing the Charles Parish, York, Virginia baptism register whose birth date has been correctly specified.
• Capt James S Holloway (abt.1742-1829) who died in Jessamine, Kentucky
• A James Holloway (abt.1725-abt.1778) who married Ann Stephenson in Pittsylvania, Virginia that is the actual father of Christa Holloway.
