Biography

Mildred Louise Hollis was born on 15 October 1912 in Bonifay, Holmes County, Florida, United States.^[1][2] She was the daughter of Joseph Wille Hollis (1888 - 1966) and Lillian Beatrice (Boswell) Hollis (1888 - 1980).

When she was 8 years old, she was enumerated in the household of her parents on the 1920 United States Census. They were living in Saint Andrews, Bay County, Florida.^[3]

Marriages:

1. Mildred Louise Hollis and Doyle A. Pullen were married on 26 September 1928 in Florida.^[4] They were enumerated together on the 1930 United States Census at which time they were living in Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia and Mildred was working as a stenographer.^[5] Mildred and Doyle Pullen divorced in 1939.^[6] As far as can be ascertained, they had no children.
2. Mildred L. Hollis and James W Kimbrell were married on 01 October 1939 in Prattville, Autauga County, Alabama.^[7][8] They were the parents of at least 3 children. Their son, James Taylor Kimbrell, died in 2017. The other 2 children are likely still living.^[9]

When the 1940 United States Census was taken, Mildred and James Kimbrell were living in Tallahassee, Leon County, Florida. Mildred was working as a secretary for a crate and box company. Her husband was a professional baseball player for the team in Tallahassee.^[10]

In 1950, according to the United States Census, Mildred, James, and their children were living in Mobile, Mobile County, Alabama. Mildred was working as a stenographer for a rubber building materials manufacturing company.^[11]

Mildred was of the Baptist faith. She was employed as an executive secretary of the Federal Bureau of Public Roads.^[9]

Mildred Louise (Hollis) Kimbrell died on 01 December 1984 in Leon County, Florida at the age of 72.^[1][2] She was buried in Tallahassee Memory Gardens, Tallahassee, Leon County, Florida.^[9][12]
