Biography

Samuel was given his fathers plantation along with Richard Farrell, his-brother-in-law. However, he got the bulk of the property while Richard was just given access to the fishing room as follows: 68 yds. from E. to W. bounded on the E. by the Luthers on the W. by the Brook 149 yds. from H.W.M. to the W. boundary, W. by the woods. 1/3 Stage 1 Flake 4 H. 2 G. 1 M. a Plot 39 yds. from S. to N. and 40 yds. from E. to W. 1 Garden Note, Richd. Farrell is to have half the fishing room only.

Adams Cove February 4th In the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty nine. In the Name of God Amen, I Samuel Hollett of Adams Cove in the Island of Newfoundland Planter being weak in body, but of perfect mind and memory do make this as my last will and testament. Item. I give to my wife Elizabeth Hollett one fourth part of my room situate in Adams Cove aforesaid, my house with all the furniture together with all my live stock, to be hers during her natural life and at her decease to be disposed of as she may think fit. Item I give the remaining three parts of my room to my three sons, Joseph, John and Samuel to be equally divided among them, together with an equal share in what may be left of boat crafts and fishing utensils on the event of my wife's death but should they leave their mother previous to her demise they shall take no part of these articles with them or any thing at present belonging to the room. The stage and flake shall be also equally divided among my three sons above named reserving a fourth part as before stated to my wife. Item. I give to my son Joseph my sealing gun, now in possession of George Moulton my son in law. This I declare to be my last will and testament by hereunto affixing my hand and seal at Adams Cove on the day and year above named.
