"The will of George Hoge of South Carolina in the County of Pendleton, 3 Nov 1798, (Anderson Co, SC, Wills, Book H, p.5) devises to John Ross "my horse geers and other working tools and a pair of stilyards and to my daughter Barbara Ross, I will and bequeath my pots and peuter and dishes and my mother's spinning wheel." His clothing was to be equally divided between his two sons, George and John Hoge. The remainder of the estate (after several specifications) was to be divided "between my four children: to wit, my son-in-law John Ross, my son George Hoge, my daughter Georreeta Brandon, and my son John Hoge.""
