Mrs. Eliza Hinton. Another of the old pioneering women passed away in the District Hospital, Taree, at 9.30 last night (Monday), in the person of Mrs. Eliza Hinton, widow of the late Mr. Richard Hinton, of Wingham. Deceased had reached the age of 75 years, and was admitted to Hospital last Thursday week. Mrs. Hinton's maiden name was Eliza Hoad, and she was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Hoad. She was married to the late Mr. Richard Hinton at Wingham fifty-three years ago—the Rev. Swindlehurst being the officiating clergyman on that important occasion. Mr. and Mrs. Hinton spent most of their married life at Giro, where the late Mr. Hinton was recognised as a great station hand, and one of the best horsemen. There are three sons living: They are: Joe (Bundook), Alan (Wingham) and Len (Wingham). The daughters are: Mrs. H. Mclnnes (Gloucester), Kate (Mrs. R. Hardy, Cundle), Martha (Mrs. S. Wilson, Wingham), Leila Mrs. C. Dennes, Mount George), Ruby (Mrs. Eric Clarke, Taree), Lucy (Mrs. Ernie Beattie (Gloucester). The only brother of deceased living is Mr. W. Hoad (Taree), and the only sister is Mrs. Will Brims (Tweed River). Mrs. Hinton was a kindly old soul, respected by all who enjoyed her acquaintance. The funeral takes place to-morrow (Wednesday) at 11 a.m. from St. Matthew's Church of England. The remains will be laid to rest in the Church of England section of the Wingham General Cemetery. The funeral arrangements are in the hands of Mr. H. V. Brewer. |
