Article from Chignecto Post December 6, 1883 Loss of "Princess Louise" in Bay of Fundy - The newly built Government steamship "Princess Lousie" was launched Thursday from the ship yard of Jotham O'BRIEN, Maccan, N.S. and a St. John tug boat taking her in tow proceeded to Wood Point to place her under the care of Dominion steamer "Newfield", Capt. GUILFORD. Here a new steel wire tow-line was adjusted and the two vessels got under way for Halifax. On board the "Princess Louise" were Capt. Daniel BROWNE, Supt. of Lighthouses and a crew of eight men and a boy. Survivors: James DENE, the boy belonging to "Newfield" and Richard SOY, a seaman engaged at Maccan. The name of one of the victims is unknown. The others were Capt. Daniel BROWNE, married; Michael DADEY, second officer; Alfred HILTZ, second cook; John McKENZIE, married; Jacob SINGER, married; Harry GRAY, unmarried; Arthur WOOD, unmarried.
