Biography

Clinton E Hilt was born in Indiana in 1920. His parents were Ray Hilt Mary Ann Nuttle. In 1930, the family was living in Lafayette Ward 6, Tippecanoe, Indiana.^[1] They were still in Lafayette in 1940.^[2]

Clinton enlisted in the US Army on 12 Jul 1943 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was single with four years of high school education, and had been working in "Skilled occupations in the manufacture of miscellaneous products." He entered the Army as a Private.^[3] He served in the United States Army Air Corps from July 12, 1943 to March 3, 1946, according to his obituary.^[4]

Clinton passed away in 2011. Burial was in the Spring Vale Cemetery, Lafayette, Tippecanoe County, Indiana.^[4] The obituary posted on his memorial page, states: "...he received his AS degree in accounting from Ivy Tech.

On February 13, 1943 he married Lucile Minor in Lafayette. She died March 1, 1948. He then married Lyda Peterson on April 8, 1949 in Lafayette. She died April 27, 2011.

Clinton was a farmer, retired from the US Postal Service in 1978 and had his own income tax service, retiring in 2009.

He was a member of Heritage United Methodist Church, a duel member of Masonic Lodges 123 and 103, Past President and Vice President of York Rite, was in Boy Scouts and Explorer Scouts and enjoyed bowling, reading, gardening and camping..."^[4]
