Biography
My name is Georgann Leigh Hill Hickman. My 4 Grandparents lines are: Hill, Cobb, Atkinson (all from Tennessee) and Owens from Alabama. I’m very interested in all lines. I desperately in search of information on: Lydia Anna Taylor Cobb - mother of my Grandmother Margaret Allie Cobb. She is my brick wall.

I am his 3G thru Levi (1857-1887). I have talked often with another cousin descendant of David A, her name is Kelly Boles. She descends through David A’s son Andrew Paul. As to William’s parentage, there was some circumstantial guesswork for years that William might be the grandson of Andrew Jr, via a David McNabb Taylor and Mary/Polly McKamey/McHenry. However, there are no document records showing this. The oldest known William record is the 1825 marriage bond to Elender Hyder. As for DMT and MMT, there are only two copyrighted references mentioning them in reference to Andrew Jr. Firstly, a 1906 Knoxville news Sentinel article on Andrew Jr mentioning him having a son named David who died in 1819, whose wife was Polly McKamey. Also a book “Historical Reminiscences of Carter County” mentions Andrew Jr having a son David. Nothing ever I have found mentions William directly related. My 1 cousin2R Zirkle Hensley, grandson of William’s last son Ek Taylor(1864-1945) speculated in a handtyped document on William’s possible ancestry, but with no records. I did a Y-700 paternal dna test last Spring, that proves genetically that William’s Taylor line is haplogroup I-M253; wheras the Andrew line is a different R-1B haplogroup; proving no direct William descendancy. We are however, somehow related via some maternal link, to both Andrew Jr and his father-in-law Baptist McNabb, because there are a good number of Ancestry.com autosomal dna segment and centimorgan matches across those Taylor/McNabbs. Also, I read an article once Zirkle had from the Kingsport Times, that stated Amy Waggoner was a bridesmade to AJr’s nephew Nathaniel Green Taylor and Emmaline Haynes, and William was a cousin, but it didn’t state how. I have been working his line a ton for the last 30+ years, and have had some false rabbit trails, but a lot of success and gains. I know a bunch of cousins from his children Loucinda, David A, Tabitha, William Mike, Alfred, Martha, Allison, George, and Ek…and look forward to sharing with you as well.
