Biography

Cameron Hill is a member of Clan Cameron.

Cameron George Hill was born on Aug. 28, 1925 in Toronto, Ontario. He was the elder of the two sons of Lawrence Hill and Gwenne (Cameron) Crawford. He completed his high school education at University of Toronto Schools (UTS) in 1943, and graduated with an M.D. from the University of Toronto's Faculty of Medicine in June 1948, whereupon he began his internship at Toronto General Hospital.[1]

Cam married Norma Helene Banting (1925-2017) in Thornton, Ontario on Sept. 9, 1950.[2] Cam and Norma then lived in Barrie, Ontario,[3] where he opened an office for the practice of medicine in 1952,[4] providing his services as a physician and surgeon.[5] Their first two sons, Lawrence Hill and Dave Hill, were born in Barrie. Cam served as the treasurer of the Cookstown Branch of the Canadian Red Cross Society,[6] as a director of the Collier Street United Church Men's Club,[7] and as a director of the Barrie Junior Chamber of Commerce.[8]

Cam and Norma had two more sons, Robert Cameron Hill (1957-2009), and Barrie Hill, who was born after the family had moved to Calgary, Alberta,[2] where Cam practiced internal medicine.

Cam died on Aug. 23, 2008. He is buried in Canmore Cemetery, Alberta.[9]
