Muncie Decora Hildreth was born 31 December 1878 in Alabama, United States, according to her Find A Grave memorial, but this date is in conflict with other records. There is a photograph of her stone on the memorial which provided this date.^[1] She was one of the 10 children of Robert Henry Jackson Hildreth (1846-1907) and Julia Spikes (Hamner) Hildreth (1845-1892).

Muncie was recorded as being 10 months old when the 1880 United States Census was taken. She was listed as a child of her parents and living with them in the Mount Olive community of Butler County, Alabama.^[2]

Muncie was married to Finley W. Griffin on either 03 April 1895 or 04 April 1895 in Coffee County, Alabama. Some sources gave one date, others gave the other. The actual record needs to be examined to ascertain which was correct.^[3][4]

Decora M. Griffin was 20 years old in 1900 and had given birth to 2 children, both of whom were living. On the 1900 United States Census for Clintonville, Coffee County, Alabama the numbering of the households seemed to have indicated the Decora Griffin and her family were living in the same residence as Dempsey Warrick, but the numbering appeared to have perhaps been confused. Another odd thing was that, on this census, daughter Alta's name was recorded as Julia. No other records located used this name for her.^[5]

Muncie, her husband and their 4 children were living in Lakewood, Walton County, Florida when the 1910 United States Census was taken.^[6]

The infant listed in the Griffin family on the 1910 Census was probably the Mary (misspelling of Marie) Griffin, who, at age 11 (born about 1909), appeared on the 1920 United States Census with her father and his second wife. A son named Phillip, age 8 (born about 1912), was also listed on the 1920 Census and was, therefore, born before his mother Muncie Decora Griffin passed away in 1918.^[7]

Muncie Decora Hildreth Griffin passed away on 03 July 1918. She was buried in Greenwood Memorial Cemetery, Florala, Covington County, Alabama.^[1]
