Samuel Brown, son of Preserved Hickcox and Rachel Brown was born 8 March 1787. in Waterbury, CT. His parents are recorded living in Sangerfield, Otsego, NY in 1797 when he would have been 10, in Whitestown, Oneida in 1800 (he 13), and in Utica in 1803, and 1805. He married Hannah Olmstead on 26 Sept 1815, probably in Aurelius, NY. where her parents are recorded in the 1810 and 1820 census. Hannah's parents were founding members of the Congregational Church in nearby Auburn and donated land for the cemetery there. Together Samuel and Hannah had a son. Sadly Hannah died 26 Jul 1826. Samuel Brown and his young wife and son are recorded in the 1820 census in Aurelius, listed next to her father Noah Olmstead. Major Noah Olmstead had served in the War of 1812, as had Samuel B. Hickcox, so Samuel may have become acquainted with his wife Hannah through her father. Nothing further has been found for Samuel B Brown, or his young son, and where his wife is buried is unknown. She is not listed as buried near her parents or other family members in North Street Cemetery, Auburn, New York.
