Hi David

You left a comment on my profile about Great Britain - but I'm not sure why?

Wikitree's standard of using the name that applied at the time can be complicated at times to say the least. The oddest one I've come across lately was a lady who was born either in Corfu or the United States depending on which census you looked at. Eventually I found out that there was a British protectorate called the United States of the Ionian Islands operating at the time of her birth! Having reversed a number of your recent amendments I thought giving you an update on the dates and extent of GB might help.

All the best,

David.

Replied by private message. GB is not to be used on English profiles. Only the country prior to 1801 and then with the addition of United Kingdom after 1801

Hi David,

Thanks for having a Big Heart and adopting Orphan Profiles. You will want to read this After adopting orphans FAQ to understand what to do next and it explains the special attention those profiles need.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Hi David. I received your request to merge Florene Eldridge Adams. She is my mom so I would like to remain the manager. These 2 do need to be merged. I just do not know yet how to merge them.

Hi David,

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, coordinating with others is essential. You can learn more about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.

Based on your contributions the England Project may fit your research focus. If not, use the Pre-1700 Projects list to review other possibilities. Read the goals and tasks of the projects and join those which are a good fit.

Have questions? Ask in the comments section of my profile.

Hello David!

You've been a member for a few weeks so I thought I would check in to see how it's going. Have the How-Tos been helpful or left you with questions? Most of us have questions after all that information!

I want to help! Click my name, send me a private message or ask in the comment section of my page. Sometimes links don't work in emails. If that's happened to you, check the public comments on your profile. The links will work from there.

Cindy ~ WikiTree Messenger

PS To find reliable sources for your profiles, go to the Family Tree & Tools tab; select Genealogy Research and scroll down near the bottom of that list and select Research with RootsSearch. There are over 20 websites to access from there.

David, Thank you for volunteering. You are now a full member of the WikiTree family and can add your family to the big tree where many people collaborate.

Click here to start with our New Member How-To Pages. They will save you time, energy and frustration as you add your family profiles.

Please let me know if you have any questions. I'm always happy to help!

Mary ~ WikiTree Greeter

P.S. If links do not work in an email from WikiTree, try them from the comment section on your profile page.
