HOWARD J HEWLETT, age 89, son of Marshall Hewlett and Abigail Pectle Hewlett, passed away at his home in Pleasant Valley, NY on December 18, 2013. Howard is survived by his wife, Connie Hewlett, his four daughters, Louise Lucast and her husband Edmund Lucast, Frances Traver and her husband Charles Traver, Ellen Hewlett, and Hope Hewlett, as well as four grandchildren, Rebecca Hersh, Theresa Traver, Theodore Traver, and Jaclynn Boyd. His surviving siblings are Robert Hewlett, Betty Underhill, Donald Hewlett, Ella Hampson, and Barbara Bontempo. He was predeceased by his brothers and sisters Marshall Hewlett, Jean Rosner, Eleanor Benson, Samuel Hewlett, and Allan Hewlett. He is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces. Calling hours will be Friday, December 20, 2013 from 4 pm to 7 pm at Allen Funeral Home in Pleasant Valley, NY. A funeral service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Pleasant Valley on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Howard's name to the First Presbyterian Church in Pleasant Valley, NY. Description: Howard graduated from Arlington High School and served in the Army during World War II. He worked for the Pleasant Valley Highway Department for several years before becoming an HVAC technician for Agway Petroleum Corp. Howard was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church in Pleasant Valley, and a member of both the Pleasant Valley Grange and the Pleasant Valley Historical Society. He spent his last years compiling a Hewlett family genealogy and working in his garden.[3]
